The Melik Society

The Foundation assisted in the formation of the Melik Society as an education project to facilitate the restoration of the remaining river gunboats in the Sudan. Its overall aim is to advance public awareness of Anglo-Sudanese history, particularly the development of the naval gunboats and the achievements of those involved in the military campaigns in the period 1883-1899. The Society is supported by those who have a common interest in the history of the Sudan and its special relationship with Great Britain.
