How you can help the Maritime Foundation achieve its aims
The Maritime Foundation is a registered charity, and depends on sponsorship and voluntary contributions to carry out the invaluable work described in this leaflet. The Trustees and Secretary all give their time freely. Administrative costs are thus kept to the minimum, which means that 85 per cent of all income received can be applied directly to projects.
£600,000 is required over years 2011–14, to support:
- The Maritime Media Awards, Maritime Foundation Films, and the Media Awareness project.
- Research into changes in critical manpower levels, the validation symposium, and the publication and publicising of the results.
- The development web-based maritime educational materials for young people, and the promotion of career options in the maritime sector.
- Sponsorship of Youth Sea Days and other seafaring activities.
- Setting up new Memorial Books in regional centres, together with an interactive database, promotion and administration.
At the time of going to press in May 2011 some £67,000 has been raised towards our objectives, but a great deal remains to be found.

The Gift Aid scheme allows the Maritime Foundation to claim the tax back from the Inland Revenue on any donation from our supporters, as long as they are UK tax payers. If you wish to make a donation, please could you inform us if you are a UK tax payer, to enable us to reclaim the tax by completing the gift aid declaration section of our Donation Form.
An overview of the Gift Aid Scheme is available on the HM Revenue & Customs website.
