The Maritime Foundation is a registered charity which promotes Britain’s interests across the maritime field.
The Maritime Foundation’s overall objectives are to promote Britain’s maritime industries, commerce and defence through education, training and research. This includes:
- Researching and publishing information to improve the general understanding of Britains’ maritime affairs
- Stimulating the interest of young people in the sea and encouraging them to take up maritime careers
- Assisting all departments and organisations to improve maritime education and technical development in schools, colleges, universities and industry
- Encouraging development of better systems and equipment, including training, to improve maritime health and safety
- Advancing knowledge of the sea as a natural resource, including its potential for energy and mineral supplies, and promoting proper management of the marine and coastal environment
